How Creston looks and feels is shaped by the Official Community Plan (OCP). The OCP is a land-use planning tool used to guide Council in their decisions about development, zoning, and services. In 2016-2017, the Official Community Plan was developed in consultation with the public to ensure that public opinion and interest on issues of future planning were taken into account.
The OCP establishes policies, which Council and the public can use to evaluate development proposals and ensure they are consistent with the community's long-term plans. The OCP is updated regularly to ensure that it reflects the long-term planning objectives of the Town of Creston on behalf of residents.
Why are we reviewing the OCP?
A lot can change in 5 years, including the community's vision for the Town of Creston. A 5 year OCP review is an opportunity to touch base and ensure that the Town of Creston continues to meet the community's needs. The review will evaluate OCP policies within the context of today's challenges, trends, and emerging issues.
Why should you be involved in the OCP review?
The OCP guides all future operations within the Town of Creston. It is essential that the community is involved in shaping the review. At key times throughout the review process, the Town will be reaching out to engage with you and hear your opinions and ideas on the future of Creston.
