Gingerbread House Competition


Gingerbread enthusiasts are now encouraged to enter the 2021 Gingerbread House Competition!

Timeline: 

December 1, 2021: Registration Opens

December 17, 2021: Registration Deadline

December 18, 2021: Gingerbread House Display for Public Viewing and Judging (outside Millennium Park, December 18th, 1:00 - 3:00pm)

December 20, 2021: Winners will be announced here!

Rules:

  • Gingerbread Competition & Display is a family-friendly show. Winterfest reserves the right not to display an entry that is deemed offensive, controversial, inappropriate, religious, political, or poorly constructed and may remove entries based on guest complaints or damage.
  • All entries must be mounted on a something sturdy and easy to move. The display board should act as an integral part of your design – it should complement your creation. 
  • Each group or individual may enter only one gingerbread creation per category.
  • Please securely attach a card on the underside of your display base listing your name, email address, telephone number and the category you have entered. 
  • Use of gingerbread: The main structure of entry must be constructed of at least 60% gingerbread.
  • Non-visible interior supports: Non-edible materials may be used for non-visible supports. 
  • Everything visible on your entry MUST be edible: The only exception is the the board on which your entry is mounted. 
  • Your gingerbread creation must be sturdy in order to qualify for displaying and judging. 
  • Winterfest is not responsible for any gingerbreads on display.

Drop-off and Pick-up:

All entries must be dropped off between 11:30am and noon on December 18th, and picked up between 3:00 and 3:15pm (outside Millennium Park). Any entries that are not picked up by this time will become the property of Winterfest.
