Tree Planting Guide: Grow a Green Future

Trees have various benefits, including contributing to the economy, storing carbon, purifying and cooling the air, preventing erosion, and improving well-being.

Town staff are working to provide education regarding the various benefits of trees and the impact they have on the Creston Valley and its residents.

To help with this initiative, Ecoscape Environmental Consultants Ltd. have been hired to develop a Tree Planting Guide that will provide information on 100 tree species and their resilient features and planting techniques for success. They have a well-defined team of biologists, environmental scientists, and geoscientists with extensive experience in the natural resources sector.

The guide will include a list of 100, largely native, tree and shrub species with the following attributes (if known):

  1. Scientific name
  2. Drought tolerance
  3. Fire resistance
  4. Salt tolerance
  5. Zone
  6. Root type
  7. Common pests
  8. Planting & maintenance information

This guide will be available by the end of summer - ready for the Fall planting season.
